Finding Me! Finding Me! Finding Me! Humph this movie was not what I expected to say the least. First let me start off with how my day started after my attendance at the Day 26 record release party. I awoke early and decided on Thai for lunch little did I know how hard it would be to find a Thai restaurant! I exited the 6th Avenue L train and started my search from there walking further downtown till I got to 13th and University. Having no luck I walked from 13th and University all the way to Houston St then back around to Third Ave and 12th finally locating a Thai restaurant called Montien! I had the lobster soup to start because by this time my stomach was pretty much in a state of panic that it would not have any involvement with food if I had anything to do with it ( it sensed my distress and tried to call on pizza, gyros, White Castles, Chinese, Japanese, Saigon and then some… In any case the soup hit the spot and made way for the Thai fried rice with shrimp not as spicy as I liked but the waitress made up for it with trolley of spices for me to sample any who, I met up with Marcus who I met this past year at Savoy’s New Years Eve gathering. We made our way to The Quad Theatre and were greeted by PR Timothy Yates who was just a delight to finally meet after our exchanges of emails. He was on point having my tickets ready for myself and my guest who had yet to arrive. Anyone that knows me knows I am a stickler for time, anyways after waiting a good half hour my guest Briian Dargon (Designer /Photographer) who was on time guest Merrell got caught with a client. Marcus, Briian and I secured our seats and waited for the show to begin. I cannot divulge the movie for you because it would be tasteless as well just plain old BLAH! I’ll say this though the talented cast that consisted of Ray Martell Moore, Derrick Briggs, J’Nara, Eugene Turner, and Maurice Murrell were outstanding in this movie! I loved the story, the energy and the message it provided for young people searching for themselves in a society of unacceptance. Roger Ormeus the director put his foot in this production. Even though there were some issues with consistency this movie was very entertaining to say the least. It will be available April 21, 2009 at Blockbusters, Borders and Amazon.com. I do suggest you pick up your copy and support this movie the message is one everyone needs to hear and you will be entertained. After the premiere of “Finding Me “we all headed over to Ate Ave where the after party was being held at after the screening. I had such a great time meeting the cast members in person as well hanging with Derrick Briggs Mom Ms. Bobbi White who was the epitome of class, aplomb and personality. Now I see where Derrick got his talent and personality from. All in all I do recommend you go get a copy of “Finding Me “invite some friends over, pop some Jiffy Pop Popcorn , laugh, cry and ENJOY! POOF I am out !
